Shadan Mirabedi enjoys sharing her Iranian cultural heritage through teaching and performing classical and contemporary Persian and Central Asian dance in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Shadan is a dance instructor, performer and choreographer. She is a member of the International Dance Council CID, a branch of Unesco headquartered in Paris. Throughout her 20-year dance career, she performed as a soloist and duet-soloist for world class stage performances. Shadan pursued classical Persian dance since 1998 and is known for her expressive, authentic, regional Iranian performance techniques. She finds great joy in sharing her love of this graceful art form along with the colorful and majestic expression of Iran’s rich cultural heritage. She joined the prestigious Afsaneh Art and Culture Society and performed with Ballet Afsaneh at venues such as the San Francisco Palace of Fine Arts, Ethnic Dance Festival, Encyclopedia Iranica Foundation Benefit Gala, and New York City Norooz Celebration (for the Persian New Year).

She studied and performed with renowned Persian Ballet and Academy Dancers, Miriam Peretz, Sharlyn Sawyer, Shahrzad Khorsandi, Hannah Romanowsky and Kristen Sague. Shadan completed courses in the Fundamentals in Persian Dance, Classical and Contemporary Persian Dance Intensives, and Central Asian musicality courses. She continued her folkloric Iranian dance training with workshops by renowned instructors with the State Dance Ensemble of Azerbaijan. She also continues her mystical dance training with Miriam Peretz at dance retreats in Italy, Berkeley and most recently Hawaii.

Shadan currently teaches weekly dance classes and private dance lessons for adults. She has taught Persian dance to adults and children since 2013. Music and ethnic dance forms are her passion. Shadan looks forward to every class to share the beauty of the rich, colorful and graceful traditions of Persian and Central Asian dance. She enjoys cultivating and enriching her dance networks from around the world.
